Zeekr teases 9X Grand flagship SUV, and it's a PHEV!

BEIJING: The Zeekr 9X Grand flagship SUV was seen in winter testing in a video recently released by the Geely-owned electric vehicle brand.

Covered with heavy camouflage, the 9X Grand - which will officially debut at the Shanghai Auto Show in April - is shown frolicking around in the snow.

carscoops.com has reported that the 9X Grand should cost around 1 million yuan (RM611,000) when it goes on sale in China in the third quarter.

The 9X Grand is expected to offer a plug-in hybrid powertrain, and will compete against rivals from BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Range Rover.

Judging from what the video showed, the 9X Grand is a massive and chunky car. A lidar sensor atop the roof points to an SUV that will have driver-assistance tech to boost safety and make driving easier.

A high performance engine and a a number of electric motors would handily give the new Zeekr model plenty of muscle and speed. It won't be surprising if this behemoth is able to sprint from 0-100kph in under 4s. Pure electric range, we dare say, could be around 100km.

It was reported last November that Geely Holding was planning to revamp operations across the board and cut costs among the various brands under its ambit. Zeekr, which is known as a pure EV play, was charged with taking over Lynk & Co, so the latter's PHEV expertise would have much to contribute towards the 9X Grand development.
