Xiaomi kicks off EV charging partnerships with Nio, Li Auto and Xpeng
By REUTERS | 26 December 2024BEIJING: Chinese upstart electric vehicle (EV) maker Xiaomi announced partnerships on Wednesday with local EV specialists Nio, Li Auto and Xpeng on charging services.
More than 6,000 charging piles from Li Auto, over 9,000 from Xpeng and more than 14,000 from Nio will be accessible in Xiaomi's charging map, Xiaomi posted on China's Weibo platform.
Xiaomi's EV division has exceeded expectations, with Q3 2024 revenue from its EV and new initiatives reaching 9.7 billion yuan, approaching a 10 billion yuan milestone.
The gross profit margin for the business increased to 17.1%.
Xiaomi ramped up production, delivering 39,790 Xiaomi SU7 Series vehicles in the quarter, totalling 67,157 vehicles by Sept 30. In October, monthly deliveries surpassed 20,000 units, and by Nov 18, the company reached its target of 100,000 vehicles.
Xiaomi aims to deliver 130,000 vehicles by the end of 2024.
The company also expanded its sales and service network, with 127 smart EV centres across 38 cities in China.
In October, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Prototype set a new record for the fastest four-door car at the Nürburgring Nordschleife.
Pre-orders for the mass-produced Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, priced at 814,900 yuan, surged with 3,680 orders in the first 10 minutes. - With additional details from Xiaomi
