Woman arrested for shouting at police at PJ checkpoint

The woman being led to a police car following her outburst.

PETALING JAYA: A motorist was arrested after she shouted at police personnel manning a roadblock here.

The woman was one of hundreds of motorists caught by surprise after police set up a new roadblock along Persiaran Surian to enforce the movement control order (MCO).

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said they had set up the roadblock because many were still driving far from their homes to buy necessities.

"We find that there still are some who live in Kota Damansara but want to do their grocery shopping at the Taman Megah market.

"We cannot accept such scenarios. Just buy your necessities in your area.

"We will not accept such reasons unless all the shops in your neighbourhood are closed," he told reporters at the scene today.

He said they arrested a woman in her 30s after she shouted at the police when passing through the roadblock.

"She called us idiots. Well, we are idiots who have your safety in our hearts and minds.

"We arrested her and brought her back to the Petaling Jaya police headquarters for further investigations," he said.

ACP Nik Ezanee said besides the roadblock at Persiaran Surian, there were 11 roadblocks set up throughout the district.
