Volvo C40 Recharge is now EC40, gets new colour
By CARSIFU | 26 February 2025
KUALA LUMPUR: Volvo Car Malaysia has finally streamlined the naming convention for the C40 Recharge in line with the new name it is marketed as in Europe.
It's now the EC40 after using the old name for the past two years.
The EC40 now features an extended range of 554km (WLTP) and a new Cloud Blue exterior, already offered in the EX30. Other colours are Onyx Black, Crystal White, Silver Dawn, and Sage Green.
It retains many of the standout features and after-sales offerings, including:
> An 82kWh battery pack that supports a higher maximum DC charging input of 200kW — allowing a 10 to 80 percent charge in just 28 minutes
> Advanced pixel headlights equipped with sensors that intelligently adjust brightness to optimise driver visibility
> Five years of complimentary Digital Services, offering seamless access to Google Assistant, Google Maps, Google Play Store, and remote functions via the Volvo Cars App
> Five-year complimentary Volvo Service Plan (VSP) which includes comprehensive, scheduled servicing via your authorised Volvo Service Centre for further peace of mind
The EC40 is available in a top-tier twin motor, all-wheel-drive (AWD) variant featuring a second-generation, in-house developed permanent magnet rear electric motor.
With a maximum output of 300kW, this configuration of a motor on each axle emphasises dynamic power delivery at the rear, providing an engaging and responsive driving experience.
"In introducing the renamed EC40, we are not just upgrading our current electric SUV line-up, but we are also paving the way for an expansive lineup later this year," said Volvo Car Malaysia sales director Chris Tan.
"Whether our customers desire the versatility of a spacious 7-seater for family adventures or the agility of a compact 5-seater for urban journeys, our evolving portfolio is designed to meet every lifestyle and preference."
The introduction of the Volvo EC40 is part of Volvo’s ongoing electrification transformation.
In 2024, BEV and plug-in hybrid models represented 83 percent of our total retail sales, up from 71 percent the previous year.
To date, Volvo Car Malaysia has introduced three fully electric models—the XC40 Recharge Pure Electric, the EX30, and the EC40 — with the EX90 set to hit local roads later this year.
Priced the same as before at RM288,888, the EC40 is available with flexible financing options and lower interest rates through Volvo Car Financial Services.
Customers who book the EC40 from now till March 31 will also enjoy a complimentary wall box voucher worth RM5,000.
