Vespa Primavera and GTS 300 HPE launched from RM22,300

KUALA LUMPUR: Didi Group - the official distributor of Vespa in Malaysia - has launched the 150cc Primavera Color Vibe and 300cc GTS 300 scooters.

As an ode to the classic first launched in 1968, the Primavera has been priced at RM22,300 (including road tax and insurance) and is offered up with two two-tone liveries of Orange Tramonto Blue Audace.

The Primavera takes aim at those who are young and young at heart with a fun-loving attitude and view on life with its latest lifestyle scooter which also includes the Pic Nic (RM19,900).

With a 1,334mm wheelbase, the Primavera stands at 1,852mm-long and 680mm-wide and gets powered by a 154.8cc mono-cylinder engine with an electronically-managed port-fuel injection (PFI) system and an electric starter.

A continuously variable transmission (CVT) takes care of power delivery while providing that "twist and go" convenience.

The engine sips from a 7.0-litre fuel tank to produce 12.7hp at 7,750rpm and 12.8Nm of torque at 6,500rpm.

Equipped with a single-channel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) as standard, the Primavera uses a single 200mm stainless hydraulically actuated steel disc while the rear uses a mechanically operated 140mm drum instead for stopping power.

While rolling on 12-inch die-cast aluminium wheels with 110/70 (front) and 120/70 (rear) tyres, a single-arm helical spring with a single double-acting hydraulic shock absorber takes care of shocks up front. The rear uses a double-acting shock absorber with four pre-load positions.

The GTS 300 range is now re-introduced with the GTS 300 HPE (High-Performance Engine) range that's offered in two model ranges of the entry-level SuperSport (RM32,900) and range-topping SuperTech (RM36,900).

The more refined GTS now sport a new keyless system as standard for all model variants and allows for steering lock activation, keyless start and keyless seat opening.

Unlike the Primavera, the engine (also with PFI and an electric motor) gets its displacement increased to 278cc to produce 23.8hp at 8,250rpm and 26Nm of torque while getting its fuel from an 8.5-litre fuel tank and mated to a CVT.

Size-wise, the bigger GTS poses with its larger 1,380mm footprint for its wheelbase while measuring 1,980mm-long and 765mm-wide.

The SuperSport range comes in four colour options Orange Tramonto, White Innocenza, Green Olive and Black Opaco while the Supertech comes in either Blue Deep or Grey Quarzo.

The new GTS range comes with a new front suspension that's touted to provide greater high-speed stability as well as comfort and handling.

Slight differences with the previous generation are found on the handlebar, instrument cluster (SuperTechgets a TFT colour display instead), front shield, new storage compartment, front headlights, front signal lights and rear combination lights.
