Updated Volvo XC40 mild hybrid open for booking, priced at RM279K

KUALA LUMPUR: Volvo Car Malaysia is introducing the XC40 B5 Plus, freshly updated for model year 2025 (MY25).

Now available for bookings, the XC40 B5 Plus is one of Volvo Car Malaysia’s more popular cars, clearing off its MY24 stock within the period of three months, just this year.

Powered by a mild-hybrid system, the XC40 B5 Plus combines a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with electric assistance, delivering an impressive 249 hp and 350Nm of torque.

The electric motor adds 14hp and 40Nm, distributed to all four wheels via an eight-speed Geartronic automatic transmission, ensuring an efficient driving experience.

The refreshed XC40 B5 Plus is priced at RM278,888 (on-the-road without insurance), which is unchanged from the MY24 units. It comes with features such as:

> PIXEL Headlights: Equipped with sensors, these headlights adjust brightness dynamically to optimise driver visibility while preventing glare for oncoming traffic.
> A SET OF 19-Inch Alloy Wheels: Aerodynamically designed to enhance both aesthetics and fuel efficiency.
> NEW Exterior Colour: The elegant Cloud Blue joins existing shades like Onyx Black, Crystal White, Silver Dawn, and Sage Green.
> ANDROID-POWERED Infotainment: Includes built-in Google services, offering integration with Google Assistant, Google Maps, and more.
> FIVE-Year Complimentary Digital Services: Enjoy extended access to remote functions via the Volvo Cars app, alongside Google Play Store services.

The XC40 B5 Plus maintains Volvo’s advanced smart safety features which includes run-off road protection, a whiplash protection system, front and rear collision warning and mitigation support, a blind spot information system with steer assist, lane keep assist, 360-degree parking view and cross-traffic alert with auto braking.

“We recognise the growing demand for diverse options from our customers. That’s why we’re excited to introduce the updated Volvo XC40 B5 Plus," said Volvo Car Malaysia marketing & PR director Patricia Yaw.

Like many other automakers with EV ambitions, Volvo has been forced to walk back on its electrification plans amid a global EV slowdown.
