Updated BMW 5 Series previewed
By CARSIFU | 26 March 2021KUALA LUMPUR: BMW Group Malaysia has previewed the new BMW 530e M Sport and the new BMW 530i M Sport as the upcoming additions to its line-up of locally-assembled premium executive sedans.
The estimated on-the-road without insurance (with sales and services tax) price for 530e M Sport plug-in hybrid is RM343,000 and the 530i M Sport is RM396,000.
Complete with the M Aerodynamics package, the new variants are now fitted with larger kidney grilles and slimmer headlights with a new daytime running light design.
The 530e M Sport comes with Adaptive LED Matrix headlights, in addition to the standard LED headlights, while the 530i M Sport is equipped with the BMW Laserlight.
Both include the anti-glare BMW Selective Beam high-beam assistant with turning lights, and adaptive cornering function.
The BMW Individual high-gloss Shadow Line frames the 530e M Sport, while the 530i M Sport gets the BMW Individual Exterior Line Aluminium Satinated.
The front and rear bumpers on both variants are also redesigned with larger air intakes, alongside new LED taillight elements in the signature BMW L-shape.
For the first time, the light source is integrated directly into the taillight’s outermost layer, maximising the 3D effect.
While both cars also feature Adaptive Suspension and the M Sport brake with blue-painted M Sport brake callipers with M designation, they also get new 19-inch M light alloy Y-Spoke 845M Bi-Colour Jet Blackwheels with both mixed and runflat tyres.
Powering the 530e M Sport is a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder BMW TwinPower Turbo and an eDrive electric motor delivering a combined output of 292hp and 420Nm of torque with 109hp contributed by the electric motor.
Coupled to an eight-speed Steptronic transmission, the 530e M Sport does the century sprint in 5.9 seconds and has a top speed of 235kph.
Fuel consumption is rated at 2.3-litres per 100km with a CO2 emission of 53g per km.
An all-electric top speed of 140kph and range of up to 67km (NEDC correlated) is possible.
The hybrid battery can be fully-charged with a BMW i Wallbox in approximately 3 hours and 35 minutes, or under 6 hours with a conventional main socket via a standard charging cable.
The 530i M Sport, meanwhile, also gets a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder BMW TwinPower Turbo delivering 252hp and 350Nm of torque mated to an eight-speed Steptronic transmission.
A 0-100kph sprint is done in 6.4 seconds along with a top speed of 250kph.
Fuel consumption is 6.7-litre per 100km with a CO2 emission of 154g per km.
Further enhancing the driving experience of both premium sedans are Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) that is complemented by Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), Dynamic Brake Control (DBC) and the Antilock Braking System (ABS) with Brake Assist.
Also included are M leather steering wheel, stylish front sport seats, interior trim finishers in Aluminium Rhombicle, Dakota Leather upholstery, BMW Individual anthracite headliner,interior ambient lighting and the BMW Live Cockpit Professional, running the latest BMW Operating System 7.
The 530i M Sport also comes with an electrical glass roof.
