Three Mercedes-AMG models unveiled at Mercedes-Benz World showcase from July 5-7


KUALA LUMPUR: Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has premiered three new top-of-the-line Mercedes-AMG high-performance models.

Unveiled at the Mercedes-Benz World showcase at KL Base, Sungai Besi here, the trio are the Mercedes-AMG C 63 S E Performance F1 Edition, Mercedes-AMG GLA 45 S 4Matic+ and Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 4Matic.

Deliveries have been slated to begin from August onwards.

Priced at RM958,888 on the road without insurance, the C 63 S E combines hybrid racing know-how derived from the German car brand's participation in Formula 1 motorsports.

The sports sedan is equipped with a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine and an electric motor powered by a 6.1kWh AMG high-performance battery that unleashes a continuous output of 70kW and a peak output of 150kW for 10 seconds.

Combining the 350kW (476hp) and 545Nm of torque produced by turbo engine, the total system output is rated at 500kW (680hp) and 1,020Nm of torque, allowing the C 63 S E to lock a 0 to 100kph sprint in 3.4 seconds with an electronically-limited top speed of 280kph.

The engine also provides a high-efficiency output of 238hp per litre while the transmission is an AMG Speedshift MCT 9G.

Offered in an exclusive Manufaktur Alpine Grey, it comes fitted with a large AMG logo and exclusive Formula 1 Edition decals.

It also gets the AMG Aerodynamics Package, AMG Night Package, flared wheel arches, a front splitter with flics, and 20-inch AMG 10-spoke light-alloy wheels in matt black with brake callipers in red.

Inside, the cabin is adorned with red trim inserts while featuring an exclusive F1 Edition badge, specific F1 Edition floor mats and F1 logo.

The AMG Performance seats are upholstered in Exclusive black Nappa leather with red decorative topstitching and embossed AMG emblems in the front head restraints.

The four-door sedan also benefits from the latest MBUX generation with MBUX Navigation Premium, Hard-disk navigation, MBUX augmented reality for navigation and two LCD displays, a 12.3-inch LCD driver’s display and an 11.9-inch LCD Central display.

Its AMG Ride Control steel-spring suspension comes with Adaptive Damping System while it also gets rear-wheel steering.

As for the GLA 45 S 4Matic+, it comes priced at RM539,888 (on-the-road without insurance).

With an output of 421hp, the compact sports utility vehicle (SUV) is capable of sprinting from 0 to 100kph in 4.3 seconds.

New for this model is a re-shaped front apron before including an AMG crest on the hood.

Among its notable kit are the new light signature for the Multibeam LED headlights and a newly designed LED rear light cluster.

The cabin now features the latest generation of the AMG Performance steering wheel wrapped in a combination of Nappa leather and Microcut microfibre.

Meanwhile, dual 10.25-inch displays now feature the new AMG-specific screen design with an extended range of functions for the MBUX infotainment system.

The GLB 35 4Matic comes tagged at RM418,888 and is a five-seater compared to its non-AMG siblings that are capable of seating seven instead.

This mild hybrid is fitted with a second-generation belt-driven starter generator with a 48-volt on-board power supply for an extra 10kW and 150Nm of torque.

However, potency is still high with a 306hp 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that's managed by an 8G AMG Speedshift DCT - an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The power is distributed to all four wheels via the AMG Performance 4Matic all-wheel drive system - allowing it to sprint from 0 to 100kph in 5.5 seconds before getting limited to a 250kph top speed.

Much like the AMG-tuned GLA, it too comes with a redesigned front apron while featuring a Mercedes-AMG logo on the front hood and front Multibeam LED headlights with Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus as well as rear LED light clusters.

The cabin also features the latest AMG Performance steering wheel (including AMG steering wheel buttons) wrapped in Nappa leather.

The latest MBUX infotainment system with an AMG-specific screen design and expanded functionality also makes its way inside.

The Mercedes-Benz World is open to the public from July 5 to 7 at KL Base, Sungai Besi, here from 10am to 6pm daily.

Visitors can view lineups from AMG to all-electric and from sedans to SUVs.
