Suzuki unveils electric Vitara in Italy
By CARSIFU | 05 November 2024MILAN: Suzuki Motor Corporation has launched its first mass-production battery electric vehicle (BEV), the e Vitara here, with production set to begin in spring 2025 at Suzuki Motor Gujarat in India.
Global sales, including in Europe, India, and Japan, are expected by mid-2025.
The e Vitara, based on the earlier concept model eVX, is Suzuki’s inaugural global strategic BEV, marking a significant step in the company’s carbon-neutral strategy.
Dubbed the "Emotional Versatile Cruiser," it aims to merge advanced technology with the rugged appeal of an SUV.
The model incorporates a newly developed HEARTECT-e platform, designed specifically for BEVs, featuring a lightweight structure with enhanced high-voltage protection and maximising interior space through minimised underfloor components.
The e Vitara's design blends high-tech appeal with SUV strength, aligning with Suzuki’s "High-Tech & Adventure" theme. Large-diameter tyres, a long wheelbase, and an integrated, tech-infused interior display complement the vehicle’s adventurous look.
A standout feature is the electric ALLGRIP-e 4WD system, which uses two independent eAxles to provide responsive handling and off-road capability.
The system includes a Trail mode that redistributes torque to stabilize traction on rough terrain.
This electric 4WD system draws on Suzuki's four-wheel drive expertise, delivering precise control and smooth performance even in challenging conditions.
Powering the e Vitara is a lithium iron-phosphate battery paired with a high-efficiency eAxle that integrates the motor and inverter. This combination aims to deliver swift, nimble acceleration, particularly from a standstill or during high-speed overtakes, with a focus on safety and reliability.
Suzuki plans to broaden its BEV lineup and tailor mobility solutions for diverse markets worldwide.
