StarCarSifu Editors' Choice Awards: Winners to be announced tonight
By CARSIFU | 06 January 2025KUALA LUMPUR: The annual StarCarSifu Editors’ Choice Awards is back for the 2024 edition here tonight.
The gala dinner and awards extravaganza pay tribute to outstanding cars for advancements and innovations in areas such as design, features and green technology.
Other areas such as such as safety, performance, comfort, handling, styling, value-for-money proposition as well as the individual “wow” factor will also play a part in determining the winners.
A total of 54 cars across 28 brands are vying for awards in 30 categories.
Vehicles shortlisted for the awards are from Audi, BMW, BYD, Chery, Ford, GAC, GWM, Honda, Hyundai, Isuzu, Jaecoo, Kia, Lexus, Maxus, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, MG, MINI, Peugeot, Porsche, Proton, smart, Suzuki, Tesla, Toyota, Volkswagen, Volvo and Xpeng.
Three cars out of the 54 nominees will ultimately be declared the winners in the top three categories – Hybrid of the Year, Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) Car of the Year and Electric Car of the Year.
The previous top categories of Local Car of the Year, Asian Car of the Year and Continental Car of the Year will not longer be used.
Nominees and winners of this edition's top categories will be announced at the gala dinner.
The awards were opened to cars launched locally from Oct 1, 2023 to Sept 30 last year.
Cars nominated are sedans, hatchbacks, sports utility vehicles (SUVs), multi-purpose vehicles (MPVs) and pick-up trucks, among others.
Judging was done by StarCarSifu's editorial team.
The awards were first held in 2016 and became an annual event in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
It took a break in 2020 and 2021 because of Covid-19 pandemic, and resumed in 2022.
