Smooth start for QR code system at Johor Baru land checkpoints
By THE STAR | 01 June 2024JOHOR BARU: Representatives from the Home Ministry and Immigration Department have made special visits to the two land checkpoints here to ensure smooth implementation of the QR code clearance system.
According to a statement on the Johor Immigration Facebook page, the visits to the two Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) complexes here were made in conjunction with the start of the QR code system proof-of-concept (POC) period today.
The visits were led by the Ministry’s deputy secretary general (Policy and Control), Datuk Zamri Mat Zain.
Also present were Immigration Department deputy director-general Ismail Mokhtar, its state acting director Mohd Faizal Shamsudin, state deputy immigration director Siti Hajar Mohd, Sultan Abu Bakar Complex head Damia Mohd Razali and several senior state immigration officers.
As of press time, the use of QR codes at the Sultan Abu Bakar Complex has been going smoothly for bus passengers and motorcyclists.
Meanwhile, the QR code still needs to be implemented at the Sultan Iskandar Building.
The Immigration Department has assured that it will inform the public of updates.
