Skoda unveils new Kodiaq with refreshed design and new engines
By DPA | 14 April 2021PRAGUE: The Kodiaq is the driving force of Skoda's broad range of crossovers, and for the first time in four years, the manufacturer's first SUV is now getting an update.
The Czech VW subsidiary is freshening up the outside of its biggest SUV, while also adding new engines, including a more powerful petrol option, and a more high-tech cockpit.
Skoda has not yet announced new prices, but they're unlikely to differ much from current pricing, which currently starts at €29,990 (RM149,000) in its home market.
You'll spot the new Kodiaq by new skirts on the front and rear, a more accentuated grille and an updated selection of wheel rims with up to 20 inches.
On the inside, there's a modernised cockpit with a new look for the digital gauges, as well as a new steering wheel like the one used by Octavia drivers. Optional extras include full LED matrix headlights, ergonomic seats and vegan upholstery.
Under the bonnet, Skoda continues to offer a choice of two diesels and three petrol engines, the most powerful of which has a slight increase in power.
The sporty RS model at the top of the range is now listed with 245hp. Below that, there is another 2.0-litre petrol engine with 190hp as well as a 1.5-litre petrol engine with 150hp, which is the only one offered with a manual gearbox instead of the seven-speed dual clutch.
For the diesels, Skoda continues to rely on a four-pot 2.0-litre available with 150hp or 200hp. Skoda has not yet provided data on performance and fuel consumption.
