Singapore vehicles without VEP can still enter Johor after Oct 1, says JPJ
By THE STAR | 27 September 2024PETALING JAYA: All Singaporean foreign vehicles without a Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) can enter Johor as usual from Oct 1, says the Road Transport Department (JPJ).
However, enforcement of the VEP for foreign-registered vehicles entering Johor will begin on Oct 1 but in phases.
In the first phase, all Singaporean foreign vehicles without a VEP can still enter Malaysia as usual, says Road Transport Department director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli.
All private vehicle owners from Singapore who have not yet obtained their RFID VEP tag will be reminded at the entry points to immediately register, install, and activate the RFID VEP tag, he added.
"It should be noted that warning notices will be issued to Singaporean private vehicle owners before leaving Malaysia if they have not yet obtained the VEP," he said in a statement today.
They can do so at any of the following VEP installation centres: TCSens Office, Danga Bay, Johor Baru, JPJ Southern Region Academy, Johor Baru, the JPJ Johor Office, Taman Daya, Johor Baru, and the VEP Collection Centre, Woodlands.
Aedy also said that as of Sept 25, 62,635 private vehicles from Singapore have activated the RFID tag for VEP.
In another development, Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi paid a surprise visit to a VEP collection centre at Danga Bay, one of three collection centres in the area.
After an inspection and seeking feedback from members of the public there, he expressed dissatisfaction at the service level provided.
Before he left, Onn Hafiz met with those waiting outside the building and assured them that the government would sort out the matter.
