KUALA LUMPUR: Scania in Malaysia has launched its new Super Truck and New Bus Generation (NBG).
Touted to have better fuel economy of up to 9% improvement, the latest offering also heralds in a new range of digital solutions housed within the the brand's Digital App for drivers.
The vehicles are claimed to be FAME-prepared up to B100 (Biodiesel) as standard to help reduce carbon dioxide emissions of up to 80%.
The Scania Super 13-litre engine (with up to 550hp) is said to be supremely robust for more uptime with an increase in its operational life by as much as 30%.
The engine is also said to have an industry-leading thermal efficiency of 50% while maintaining the company's low-revving philosophy that delivers peak engine torque at 900rpm - all managed by a smooth transmission with up to 12-speeds.
Additionally, there also the standard inclusion of Side Curtain Airbags and Steering Wheel Airbag as well as Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake System (EBS) and Traction Control (TC).
The NBG, which promises up to a 9% improvement in fuel economy and emissions also comes enhanced with improved cruise control with active prediction.
The NBG also boasts of a reinforced chassis before getting equipped with the latest addition of Lane Departure Warning (LDW) to its standard safety systems that already includes ABS, EBS and TC.
In conjunction with the launch the company's Scania Driver App was also launched which acts as the driver's main contact point into the My Scania digital ecosystem which is said to help streamline the driver's administrative tasks, simplify fleet management workflow and also provide ease of checklist storage and defect reporting.
"The launch of Driver App will put the power of data in the hands of drivers of Scania trucks and buses," said Scania Southeast Asia managing director Joyce Antar.
Antar added that the company is committed towards a sustainable and profitable transport system through it best and latest technology.
"The Super and New Bus Generation together with a wide range of new and digital solutions set yet another milestone for the industry," concluded Antar.
