Sarawak JPJ to intensify patrols at 52 accident hotspots
By BERNAMA | 19 April 2023KUCHING: The Sarawak Road Transport Department (JPJ) will step up patrols at 52 accident-prone locations throughout the state in conjunction with the Aidilfitri celebration.
Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Hasbi Habibollah said the Op Bersepadu JPJ patrols were aimed at increasing compliance with traffic regulations to promote safe driving.
"This is aimed at increasing the 'perception of being caught' rate to improve compliance with safe driving rules through a reduction in repeat traffic offences," he said.
He said this at a press conference here today on the road safety campaign in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfiti 2023.
He said there would be intensified road traffic enforcement, especially in the Kota Samarahan area, throughout the festive season.
Recently, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said JPJ would be conducting the Op Bersepadu from yesterday until April 27 in conjunction with Aidilfitri.
He said 231 locations throughout the country had been identified as accident hotspots where there would be increased monitoring by the authorities.
