Locally-assembled Omoda C9 starts rolling out
By CARSIFU | 10 December 2024SHAH ALAM: Jaecoo Malaysia is ending 2024 on a high note with the rollout of the first Omoda C9 premium off-road SUV coupe from the Shah Alam assembly plant today.
The C9, which will be delivered to customers in January, is the second model from Jaecoo to be locally assembled after the Jaecoo J7 SUV.
(The C9 is actually made by parent company Chery at its Shah Alam factory but are parked under Jaecoo because Chery deems they are premium models. Jaecoo is a new premium offroad sub-brand under the Chery group, formed in 2022. The smaller Omoda 5 and Omoda E5, being cheaper and more affordable, are still sold by Chery. The Chery Omoda 5, Omoda E5 and Tiggo 8 Pro SUVs are locally assembled at Inokom’s plant in Kulim, Kedah. )
The J7 is available in 2WD and AWD variants.
Jaecoo Malaysia vice-president Emily Lek said the company was pleased with the encouraging response for the C9 and is ready to deliver on the local market’s demands.
"As a brand that is invested for the long term, we are equally dedicated to taking care of our customers throughout their ownership journey with us.
"Looking ahead, Jaecoo continues to keep our finger on the pulse to ensure we deliver best-in-class vehicles and services that suit the market’s current needs,” she said.
