Renault Megane convertible doubles up as pipe lugger
By CARSIFU | 18 October 2021ZAGREB: The carriage of long objects in the way this Renault Megane convertible is doing as shown in this dashcam video is illegal and dangerous by any country's standards.
Nevertheless, the driver of this second generation Megane hardtop convertible took a risk and did it any way, hoping he wouldn't be stopped by the traffic police in Craiova, Romania's sixth largest city.
We don't know what was going on in the Renault driver's mind but what was even more puzzling was he decided to take on the task of hauling the five PVC plumbing pipes in rainy weather with the top opened. Hello! Water and a car's cabin do not mix.
The pipes were secured and were not rolling around in the car. But it doesn't take a genius to see the folly of carrying pipes in a vehicle that's not designed for it. The driver and his load are a danger to himself and other road users in an accident or in situations of hard braking.
The Renault driver was filmed by the car driver following behind for more than 5 minutes, with the video being picked up and aired over Romania's biggest news channel.
It should be easy to trace the car owner if Croatian police decide to act on this piece of evidence - the car's licence plate number is clearly visible.
