Refreshed Honda RS-X Winner rides in from RM10,000
By JAY WONG | 10 January 2025BERANANG: Boon Siew Honda, the manufacturer and distributor of Honda motorcycles in Malaysia, has officially launched its revised RS-X Winner which now boasts several new features.
To elevate the riding experience to a new level, the latest Honda cub is touted as a daily commuter and a weekend thriller in one package.
With its sporty looks, the RS-X Winner comes with seven main enhancements that include an Energy Efficient Vehicle (EEV) label that promises of exceptional fuel efficiency and a five-star rating from MyMAP Program for that quality stamp.
Priced at RM9,998 (excluding road tax, insurance and registration, the RS-X Winner is available in three standard colours of Blue, Green and Matte Gray.
Meanwhile, a version in Special Yellow is also available which costs RM10,298.
For peace of mind, the bike comes with a two-year or 20,000km warranty (whichever comes first).
In terms of looks, it now poses with newly-designed 17-inch lightweight wheels fitted with front 90/80 and rear 120/70 tubeless tyres.
These are matched with the design cues of the CBR150's front headlights and the CBR1000RR's exhaust can.
Aside from the new wheels, the list of enhancements includes the new 149.2cc engine that comes with an electric starter and produces 11.8kW at 9,000rpm and 13.6Nm of torque at 7,000rpm.
The motor sips from a 4.5-litre fuel tank located under the seat and is touted to provide up to 50km per litre at best while also providing better access to power delivery throughout the rev range.
To manage power delivery is a six-speed manual transmission paired with a slipper clutch for a sporty feel.
The clutch is said to provide better control, smoother gear shifts and reduced wear and tear on parts.
A Honda Smart Key System is now included in the mix.
Much like a keyless entry with push-start button system in cars, the company has included the Honda Smart Key system that enables riders to start the bike and lock the handlebar while keeping the key fob in their pocket.
This also incorporates an anti-theft alarm system and an Answer Back System for added security as well as a a USB charging port with a waterproof cover to keep smartphones charged up over long rides.
To further bolster safety, a separate handle switch has now been incorporated for the headlight, turn signals and horn; allowing riders to better concentrate on riding.
In addition to the enhancements, the RS-X Winner uses a twin-tube frame that gives the 123kg (kerb) bike its 2,019mm length, 730mm width, and 1,109mm height.
The front telescopic fork and rear mono-shocked swingarm are separated by a 1,278mm wheelbase, which allocates 148mm of ground clearance, bringing the saddle height up to 795mm.
For better stopping power, single discs for the front (with an Anti-lock Braking System) and rear have been fitted.
Boon Siew Honda chief executive officer and managing director Mitsuharu Funase expressed confidence that the all-new RS-X Winner will further boost the appeal of the RS-X nameplate while enhancing the brand's reputation.
"The RS-X has proved to be extremely popular for its powerful yet fuel-efficient engine and stylish design," said Funase.
He added that the bike has been thoroughly updated and comprehensively enhanced to meet the needs of Malaysian riders of all ages.
