Puspakom says it welcomes JPJ spot checks
By CARSIFU | 31 December 2024SHAH ALAM: Puspakom says it is co-operating with the Road Transport Department (JPJ) to root out any malpractices in the organisation.
It made the announcement following surprise inspections at its branches nationwide yesterday.
The company, Malaysia’s first vehicle inspection provider, expressed support for JPJ’s efforts to ensure that all inspections follow standard operating procedures so that road safety would be enhanced.
Puspakom CEO Mahmood Razak Bahman said it is crucial that the company works with JPJ to enhance road safety and maintain the integrity of the national transport system.
The surprise inspections are part of JPJ’s ongoing initiatives to ensure vehicle safety and legal compliance on the roads. Its move came in the wake of a series of road accidents involving heavy vehicles that has led to fatalities.
In a related incident, Puspakom confirmed that two staff members from the Wangsa Maju branch in Kuala Lumpur have been summoned by JPJ’s enforcement department for questioning today following the seizure of a vehicle at the same branch.
The vehicle was found to have been driven by a foreign national without a valid driving licence.
Puspakom said in a statement that it would punish the staff members if any misconduct is proven. Such punishment could include suspension or dismissal, it added.
