Puspakom centre in KL offers commercial vehicle road tax renewal

KUALA LUMPUR: Puspakom inspection centres are now offering road tax renewal services, with its Wangsa Maju branch here being the first to do so beginning Feb 3.

For now, the service is only available at the Puspakom branch in Wangsa Maju and only for de-controlled commercial vehicles with maximum permissible laden weight (BDM) of 7,500kg and below.

However, the road tax renewal service will be introduced in stages at 53 other Puspakom centres within the next three months, said Transport Minister Anthony Loke.

The new service offered by Puspakom is also expected to be widened to include road tax renewals for more vehicle categories including private vehicles, he said.

"When the system is stable, the service will be widened to include other vehicles from time to time.

"In the next three months, we hope we will be extending the service to all other centres, and widen the service to also include private vehicles.

"That will be in stages.

"We want to ease people's affairs and help them save time so they don't need to go to multiple places," Loke told reporters after launching the service at Puspakom Wangsa Maju here today.

Puspakom chief executive officer (CEO) Shukor Ismail said the introduction of road tax renewal services at Puspakom was part of the firm's initiatives to create one-stop centres for vehicle-related services.

Besides vehicle inspection services, Puspakom started offering insurance renewal services in 2018 before starting road tax renewal services this year, said Shukor.

"The services offered by Puspakom will give customers a comprehensive experience under one roof, and also help them save time and energy," he said.
