TANJUNG MALIM: Proton has unveiled the highly anticipated X50 compact sports utility vehicle (SUV).
The B-segment SUV is expected to be launched soon with pricing to be announced then.
It is offered in four variants of Standard, Executive, Premium and Flagship.
The national carmaker has yet to confirm further details about the X50's engine output but it is a 1.5-litre turbocharged three-cylinder mill.
The Standard, Executive and Premium variants will be powered by the same engine. However, the range-topper will receive a "high output" 1.5-litre turbocharged gasoline direct injection (TGDI) engine.
All variants get a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission to send power to the front wheels.
The X50 is the second all-new model after the X70 to result from the partnership between Proton and Geely.

The 1.5T TGDI Flagship will gain an Advance Driver Assistance System, dual-tone exterior and a panoramic roof on top of a more powerful engine.
The X50 comes with a fresh interpretation of the front Ethereal Bow grille with Infinite Weave pattern which is the signature styling of Proton cars today and first appeared on the X70.
Colour choices are Snow White, Armour Silver, Jet Grey and Ocean Grey along with two new colours of Citric Orange and Passion Red.
Proton will open its order books on Sept 16 with a booking fee of RM500.
The company is inviting the public to vote for one of four slogans on its official website.
It will also be holding roadshows in major towns from this weekend.
