Pos Malaysia accepts walk-ins for road tax renewal, driving licences
By THE STAR | 04 September 2021KUALA LUMPUR: Pos Malaysia is accepting "walk-ins" for renewal of road tax and driving licences at any our post offices nationwide, effective on Monday.
In a statement today, it announced the "walk-ins" following a similar announcement for the Road Transport Department (JPJ) by Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong at a press conference held on Friday.
"Customers with pre-booked JPJ renewal service appointments have a choice to continue with their appointments at their preferred date, time and location or just walk-in to any one of its post offices to carry out the renewal of their driving licence or road tax.
"Customers may use our ‘Outlet Finder’ feature on our website at www.pos.com.my or on the Pos Malaysia mobile app, to find the post office that is nearest to their location," it said
Pos Malaysia said it will continue to implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) as directed by the health authorities at all of the post offices.
The SOPs include limiting the number of customers inside the premises, mandatory usage of face masks, temperature checks, scanning of the MySejahtera code and physical distancing of 1 metre from others.
It emphasised that customers with Covid-19 symptoms will not be allowed to enter any Pos Malaysia outlets.
"We would also like to remind our customers to ensure that their vehicles have a valid insurance coverage and to always display the insurance e-cover note for inspection by the authorities.
"Customers may also renew their motor insurance via our post office counters or online via our website and mobile app," it said.
On Friday, Dr Wee said JPJ service counters would be operating at full capacity and would allow walk-in clients beginning Sept 6. However, the clients must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 to make use of the services.
Dr Wee also said the deadline for renewal of driving licences and road tax would be extended until Dec 31. Previously, JPJ had said the deadline was Sept 30.
