Porsche starts environmental education project in Kulim

KULIM: A new environmental education programme has been launched here as part of the global “Join the Porsche Ride” initiative.

The project, which marks the seventh stage of the campaign, is aimed at empowering schoolchildren with practical knowledge on sustainability and waste management.

In partnership with Porsche AG, Porsche Malaysia — represented by Sime Darby Auto Performance — and Inokom Corporation Sdn Bhd, the programme is being implemented at a local primary school with the support of the Malaysian NGO Free Tree Society.

The initiative in Kedah focuses on integrating environmental awareness into daily school life.

Students are actively involved in establishing a "mini-jungle" on their school premises, an exercise intended to foster a deeper connection with nature and instil long-term sustainable practices.

In addition, the pupils are tasked with a 30-day challenge to recycle everyday materials such as paper and plastic. Those who successfully complete the challenge will be awarded certificates recognising them as “Eco-Ambassadors.”

The programme aims not only to enhance the environmental credentials of the school but also to serve as a model for community engagement.

Future plans include extending the initiative to additional locations across Malaysia in 2025, with the goal of achieving measurable impacts on environmental protection and sustainability across the nation.

"Join the Porsche Ride" is a social initiative launched by Porsche, visiting various destinations on five continents worldwide.

As part of the sustainability strategy field "Partner of Society," it is about taking social responsibility and launching educational and support programs tailored to local needs—all using the all-electric Taycan as an ambassador.

The first station of "Join the Porsche Ride" was in 2022 at the Porsche site in Leipzig. This was followed by stops in Switzerland, France, South Africa, China and Brazil.
