Porsche Cayenne to go electric in 2025, ICE and hybrids to continue

STUTTGART: The fourth generation of the Porsche Cayenne will be all-electric. A demanding test programme for the first camouflaged prototypes is already underway.

It is expected to debut in 2025.

At the same time, Porsche is moving forward with the development of its third-generation hybrid and internal combustion engine (ICE) versions.

Up to and beyond 2030, the successful SUV will be offered with three powertrain variants worldwide.

The current third-generation Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid will be offered alongside the fourth-generation electric Cayenne.

The third-generation Cayenne, enhanced last year in one of Porsche's most extensive upgrades, will receive further developments, particularly in its powertrains, including a more efficient V8 engine at the Zuffenhausen plant.

Porsche is advancing its commitment to electromobility, projecting that over 80% of its new cars could be electrified by 2030, based on customer demand and regional development in electromobility.

The upcoming all-electric Cayenne is developed on the evolved Premium Platform Electric (PPE) with 800-volt architecture, which promises integration of the latest high-voltage systems, powertrain, and chassis technologies.

This platform aims to elevate the Cayenne's performance through electrification, focusing on enhanced charging capabilities, efficiency, and comfort.

The electric Cayenne prototypes, after extensive digital testing and initial real-world trials at Porsche's Weissach Development Centre, are undergoing rigorous global testing in various extreme conditions to ensure reliability and quality.

By its launch mid-decade, these prototypes will have covered millions of test kilometres.
