Polestar 2 to make pure electric debut in autumn
By DPA | 13 July 2020
BERLIN: Polestar is entering the electric mobility game on a grand scale with its number-two model: The 4.61-metre-long coupe saloon will hit the road in autumn and cost at least US$65,000 (RM277,000).
A slimmed-down model will be available at a later date for about US$45,000 (RM192,000), the Volvo subsidiary announced.
Developed by the Swedish carmaker and built by Geely in China, the Polestar 2, which has 300 kW/408hp, accelerates from 0 to 100kph in less than five seconds and has a top speed of 205kph.
According to the manufacturer, the quick-charging vehicle has a range of 470km, with the battery charging up to 80 per cent within 40 minutes at a CCS station. However, connected to a wall box at home, the sedan has to charge overnight with an empty battery.
Because the platform also has to use conventional drives, and the two-seater is comparatively tight, the rear seats are rather narrow.
There's a boot capacity of just 405 litres, though that said, another 35 litres of storage space can be found under the front bonnet, where the charging cable could be stored, for example.
