PLUS' critical services available throughout MCO
By BERNAMA | 15 January 2021KUALA LUMPUR: PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) said critical highway services would continue to be provided during the MCO (movement control order) period.
They include patrol unit PLUSRonda, toll-free PLUSLine 1800-88-0000 and public toilets.
PLUSRonda would be traversing the expressway on 24-hour loops to help any motorists in distress.
PLUS Malaysia managing director Datuk Azman Ismail urged customers who require to travel on urgent matters to plan their journey properly and ensure that their Touch ‘n Go card and e-Wallets are sufficiently reloaded to minimise disruptions and need for physical interactions at toll plazas.
Customers are also advised to adhere to the standard safety SOPs of wearing a face mask, registering on the MySejahtera app, checking temperatures at the designated points and keeping a safe distance of one-metre apart when lining up for food or using the highway facilities such as the Rest and Service Areas (R&Rs) and other public places during this period, he said.
According to Azman, there is also a pre-order function in the PLUS app, which enables food and beverages to be ordered from selected R&Rs for takeaways.
“All premises at R&Rs and lay-bys which are located under MCO states (Penang, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Melaka and Johor) are still open from 6am to 8pm but limited for take-away F&B services only as the dining areas at our food courts at the R&Rs under MCO states are closed to deter the convergence of crowds,” he said.
The operating hours for R&Rs and lay-bys in states under the Conditional MCO (Perak, Negri Sembilan, Kedah and Terengganu), on the other hand, will be from 6am to midnight and dine-in is allowable with strict physical distancing and SOPs.
In addition, petrol stations along PLUS operated highways are still open and available 24-hours a day for customers, he added.
In a separate announcement, PLUS Malaysia said the emergency and left lanes between Bidor and Tapah, Perak at KM330.05 and KM328.95 (northbound) of the North-South Expressway will be temporarily closed to all vehicles for five days from 9am on Jan 18 until 12.30pm, Jan 22.
It said it was to allow for pavement maintenance work to be carried out smoothly. However, the right lane of the affected stretch is still passable for all vehicles.
