Peugeot Landtrek truck refreshed

SHENZHEN: Peugeot has unveiled updates to its Landtrek pickup, aiming to strengthen its presence in key international markets, including Africa, the Middle East and South America.

Originally launched in 2020, the Landtrek is positioned in the competitive one-ton pickup segment, which accounts for 2.5 million annual global sales. It is available in 40 countries.

The new Landtrek introduces a robust 200-hp 2.2-litre Multijet diesel engine, offering 450Nm of torque.

Buyers can choose between a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The vehicle retains its signature strengths, including a high-capacity cargo bed and modular interior, while adding several enhancements. These include permanent four-wheel drive with multiple driving modes (Normal, Sport, Snow, and Sand) and improved safety features such as automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and blind spot detection.

Design updates feature a vertical grille with Peugeot's new emblem, claw-shaped LED daytime running lights, and a redesigned rear bumper.

The interior boasts a contemporary dashboard with a 10-inch HD touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and a 7-inch digital instrument cluster. Comfort and versatility are prioritized, with seating configurations that support up to six passengers and unique rear seat modularity in the double cabin version.

The Landtrek offers a range of engine options to meet market demands. In addition to the new diesel engine, it includes a 1.9-litre diesel with 150hp and a 2.4-litre petrol engine with 210hp. Both engines are available with manual or automatic transmission options.

Off-road capabilities are a key focus, with features like eLocker rear differential, 600mm wading depth, and ground clearance of up to 235 mm.

The Landtrek is equipped with optional cameras, including a 360° panoramic system, to assist in navigating challenging terrains. Payload capacity reaches 1,400 kg, with a towing capacity of 3,500 kg for the new diesel engine.

It continues to offer the most spacious cargo bed in the segment, with a width of 1.22 metres between wheel arches. It can hold two Euro pallets in double cabin configuration (1.63 m x 1.60 m x 500mm cargo bed), and three Euro pallets in single cabin configuration (2.43 m x 1.60 m x 500mm cargo bed).

The Peugeot Landtrek is manufactured in Shenzhen, China, by Shenzhen Baoneng Motor, formerly known as Changan PSA. The Landtrek sold in Malaysia is fully imported from China.

Peugeot also operates a plant in Tunisia where the Landtrek is made for the African market.
