KUALA LUMPUR: Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd (Perodua Sales) has signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with subsidiaries of Petronas Dagangan Berhad (Petronas Dagangan) and Gentari Sdn Bhd (Gentari) to enhance its customer service. The first MoU, a collaboration with Petronas Lubricants Marketing Sdn Bhd, Mesra Retail & Cafe Sdn Bhd (Mesra) and Setel Ventures Sdn Bhd (Setel), aims to integrate digital payment options, retail services and service centres.
Through this agreement, Perodua customers will be able to use Setel’s digital payment feature within the Perodua UFirst app, access Mesra services at Perodua centres, and benefit from new service outlets at select Petronas stations.
Perodua president and CEO Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Ahmad said the partnership with Petronas Lubricants has spanned over 20 years, with plans to deepen their collaboration to offer better services to customers.
The partnership with Gentari also focuses on supporting Perodua's expansion into electric vehicles (EVs) by installing EV charging infrastructure at Perodua service centres in preparation for its EV launch in late 2025.
The second MoU involves Gentari Green Mobility Sdn Bhd, which will establish EV charging facilities at Perodua service centres.
Gentari’s support would help ease the transition for Perodua customers to EVs by providing convenient charge points.
This collaboration would also integrate Gentari's services with the Gentari Go platform, offering home charging options and subscription services.
Gentari Green Mobility CEO Shah Yang Razalli said the partnership would strive for customer satisfaction by making EV charging more accessible at Petronas and Perodua locations.
Petronas has over 1,000 stations nationwide, while Perodua operates 194 Perodua sales and 209 service centres.
In addition, Gentari operates Malaysia’s largest licensed DC charging network, with over 175 charging points.
Besides Zainal Abidin and Shah Yang, others present at the signing ceremony were Setel Ventures Sdn Bhd chief product & technology officer Kok Chiann, Petronas Dagangan Bhd managing director/CEO Azrul Osman Rani, Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd chief operating officer Datuk JH Rozman Jaafar and Mesra Retail and Cafe Sdn Bhd CEO Ian Malcom Cruddas.
Perodua is, however, late to the EV game as Proton has stolen a march on it.
Proton would be the first national automaker to launch its own electric car next month.
Proton's ability to speed up the rollout of its first electric car, the e.MAS 7 SUV, is because it is based on the existing Geely Galaxy E5, which recently went on sale in China.
