Perodua and other brands shut down too
By CARSIFU | 17 March 2020PETALING JAYA: Perodua has joined Honda Malaysia in suspending its operations from March 18-31 following the government directive last night to restrict the movement of people in the country in an attempt to stop the Covid-19 infection.
Perodua said in a statement today that it would shut down its head office, manufacturing facilities, sales and service centres as well as body & paint outlets nationwide.
The closure would also be subject to any new announcement by the Government from time to time, it added.
New vehicle deliveries, servicing and body & paint services are expected to resume only after the Government's "Movement Control Order" is lifted.
"Our related outlet personnel may contact customers during this period to provide explanation and clarification," said Perodua.
Perodua said if customers experience any issues with their vehicles during this period, they could call Perodua Auto Assist toll-free 24/7 at 1-800-88-5555.
Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd also announced similar measures for the same duration. Its showrooms and service centres operated by Tan Chong Ekspres Auto Servis Sdn. Bhd will close as well.
On the two-wheeler side, the assembler of Benelli and Keeway motorcycles Mforce Bike Holdings Sdn Bhd will also shut down from March 18-31. Mforce Bike also assembles Brixton and Niu motorcycles and owns another two brands — SM Sport and WMOTO.
