KUALA LUMPUR: After weeks of test drives and public appearances, Jaecoo Malaysia finally launched the Omoda C9 sports utility vehicle (SUV) coupe with premium features and upscale styling.
Available in two variants, the two-wheel-drive (2WD) is priced at RM168,800 and the all-wheel-drive (AWD) at RM188,800 on the road without insurance.
An early bird package is also introduced that provides a 10-year/1,000,000km warranty for the engine and suspension for bookings done till Dec 8.
Assembled in Shah Alam, Selangor, the D-segment C9 has a wheelbase of 2,800mm, length of 4,775mm, width of 1,920mm and height of 1,671mm.
Its 660-litre boot space can be increased to 1,783 litres with rear seats folded down.
Featuring elegant styling, the C9 has a diamond matrix air intake grille, intelligent adaptive control LED headlights, daytime running lights with the "Sigma" appearance and rear LED lights with a long lighting strip.
Also included is an acoustic windshield for reduced noise intrusion into the cabin, NFC technology, a walkaway locking system and pop-out door handles among others.
Inside, the cabin is equipped with leather upholstery, active rhythmic ambient lighting, a 50W wireless charger and automatic three-zone climate controls with fragrance and air quality system.
Aside from a 24.6-inch single-panel high-definition display, the C9 also comes with a cooler box, paddle shifters, heads-up display, a 540-degree around view monitor, a powered panoramic sunroof and a built-in digital video recorder (DVR).
The 2WD variant gets an eight-speaker system while the AWD has a 14-speaker surround sound system with driver's headrest speakers.
The front seats are ventilated and the driver’s seat is an eight-way adjustable with three memory positions.
Powering the C9 is a 2.0-litre TGDI (Turbocharged Gasoline Direct Injection) inline four-cylinder petrol engine producing 257hp with 400Nm of torque mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The 2WD variant offers three drive modes whereas the AWD variant will feature seven modes including off-road settings.
Its front MacPherson struts and rear multi-link suspension feature an adaptive Continuous Damping Control (CDC) system for a smoother and more luxurious ride feel.
The C9 also has a ground clearance of 165mm, a maximum wading depth of 450mm and 20-inch multi-blade alloy wheels with Michelin tyres.
Rounding up the safety items are eight airbags and a level 2.5 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) which includes Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Driver Monitoring System (DMS), Door Opening Warning (DOW), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Departure Prevention (LDP), Lane Change Assist (LCA) and Emergency Lane Keep Assist (ELKA).
Jaecoo Malaysia vice-president Emily Lek said the company's signature product and pricing strategy is a driving factor for Jaecoo's success.
