KUALA LUMPUR: Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd (ETCM) has officially launched the all-new electrified Nissan Kicks e-Power lineup from RM113,800.Available in three variants, the compact sports utility vehicle is priced at RM113,800 for the VL, RM121,800 for the VLT and RM125,800 for the VLT two-tone.
For the first 500 early bird customers, they will get a special 10-year/160,000km EV components warranty and an introductory rebate of RM5,000.
Launched at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2024, Kicks e-Power combines sustainable innovation with dynamic performance, delivering a fun-to-drive experience.
It comes with Nissan’s second generation e-Power system that delivers an impressive fuel efficiency of 21.7 km per litre and an estimated range of up to 900km on a full tank.
Unlike conventional hybrids, the Kicks e-Power is fully driven by a 129PS and 280Nm electric motor, with a 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine serving only as a generator to charge the onboard 2.06kWh lithium-ion battery.
This design provides an electric driving experience, characterised by instant torque, quiet acceleration and smooth handling, without the need for external plug-in charging.
Additionally, the e-Power system supports sustainable driving as it reduces tailpipe emissions by 20% compared to a similar internal combustion engine-powered vehicle.
It also comes with four driving modes - ECO, SPORT, STANDARD and EV - along with an e-Pedal Step that enables drivers to accelerate and decelerate with a single pedal.
Aside from an Asean NCAP rating of five-stars, the Kicks e-Power also gets seven airbags, a rigid body structure and a suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) that includes Intelligent Driver Alertness (IDA), Blind Spot Warning (BSW), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC), Intelligent Forward Collision Warning (IFCW) and Intelligent Emergency Braking (IEB).
It also has Around View Monitor (AVM) with Moving Object Detection (MOD) and an Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) with Auto Hold function.
Additional features include Nissan's Intelligent Trace Control (ITC), Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), Hill Start Assist (HSA) and an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS).
The fatigue-free front Zero-Gravity seats and spacious cabin contribute to interior comfort while the VL variant features black fabric with blue stitching upholstery while the VLT variants get black and mocha brown leatherette.
The Kicks e-Power is the first compact SUV to feature the innovative Intelligent Rear-View Mirror (IRVM) that comes equipped with a two-megapixel camera and a high-resolution display.
It enhances visibility, especially at night, by providing clearer, flicker-free images through improved dynamic range.
It eliminates obstructions caused by rear passengers and large luggage or cargo, as the rear-mounted camera offers a wider, reflection-free view, significantly boosting both safety and convenience.
Additional features include Nissan's Intelligent Trace Control (ITC), Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), Hill Start Assist (HSA) and an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS).
The interior features a 7-inch full-colour driver's instrument display, a sporty D-shaped flat-bottom steering wheel with multi-function controls, and an infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen, offering Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.
The Kicks e-Power comes in six colour options of Brilliant White Pearl, Sunrise Orange, Red Pearl, Brilliant Silver, and Black Star.
The VLT variant is also offered in two-tone colour options with a Super Black roof and an additional body colour of Dark Metal Grey.
Vehicle warranty coverage is five-year/100,000km while EV component warranty, which includes high voltage battery, motor, inverter and e-Power control unit, is eight-year/160,000km.
Nissan Motor Co chief brand & customer officer and MC Japan-Asean chairperson Asako Hoshino said electric mobility is one of the key pillars of Nissan's innovation.
"Today marks another significant milestone in our electrification journey in Malaysia. As part of Nissan’s global business plan, The Arc, we are expanding our lineup with EV and e-Power models," she said.
ETCM executive vice-president Christopher Tan said the Kicks e-Power is a game changer that offers an EV-like experience with no compromise on fuel efficiency or performance.
"Malaysians now can enjoy this gateway technology, which has produced over 1.5 million e-Power vehicles worldwide," he said.
Aside from the Kicks e-Power, visitors to the Nissan showcase also view a larger Nissan C-segment e-Power SUV model and the Nissan Hyper Tourer, a visionary concept multi-purpose vehicle that highlights future mobility innovations.
