New Subaru XV 2.0i-P EyeSight and GT Edition introduced from RM139,800
By CARSIFU | 20 December 2021PETALING JAYA: TC Subaru Sdn Bhd, the exclusive distributor of Subaru vehicles in Malaysia, has unveiled the refreshed XV and XV GT Edition sports utility vehicle that get new styling along with safety and convenience features.
The new XV and XV GT both come in Premium trim level and feature the 2.0-litre direct injection boxer engine with 156PS and 196Nm of torque, and the EyeSight advanced driver assist technology.
The XV starts from RM139,788, while the XV GT costs more at RM146,788 in Peninsular Malaysia.
The new XV GT edition is the second XV GT model to be enhanced with a sportier bodykit created by Giken Co Ltd and Masahiko "Jack" Kobayashi.
The bodykit is even more aggressive looking and features redesigned front under spoiler with more garnishes for the front bumper.
Also exclusive for XV GT are sporty GT Edition 17-inch wheels and leather seats.
Meanwhile, the EyeSight system uses a pair of stereo cameras to detect and recognise pedestrians and vehicles to make driving safer and enjoyable.
EyeSight's key features are Pre-Collision braking, Pre-Collision Throttle Management, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lead Vehicle Start Alert, Lane Departure Warning and Lane Sway Warning.
Aside from a suspension system retuned for smoother rides, the refreshed SUV also gets Subaru's SI-Drive and Dual-Function X-Mode to enhance driving dynamics.
The SI-Drive allows the driver to select between Sport (S) that allows speedier acceleration and Intelligent (I) which returns smoother driving for better fuel efficiency.
The X-Mode, meanwhile, complements Subaru's Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system and let's the driver choose better control on Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow /Mud covered terrains.
In addition, the new SUV also comes refreshed 17-inch alloy wheels, and new front bumper and grille.
Other features include eight-way power adjustable with memory driver's seat, auto vehicle hold, reverse auto tilt-down mirrors, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
Tan Chong International Ltd deputy chairman and managing director Glenn Tan, who attended the launch here via livestream, said the inclusion of EyeSight technology would make the new XV more popular for crossover fans looking for a safe, trusted and reliable model.
He also said the locally-assembled XV was not affected by the rise of the US dollar against the ringgit as more than 40% of its components were locally sourced.
Tan also said the company was targeting to sell 3,000 units of vehicles next year which would also include soon-to-be-launched models such as the BRZ, Outback, WRX and WRX Wagon.
The company is also offering a 15% discount on parts to all Subaru owners whose vehicles were affected by the on-going flood situation in several states.
TC Subaru country manager Eugene Tay said the company wanted to assure owners that their vehicles would continue to provide safe and peace of mind drives.
Owners of flood-damaged Subaru vehicle can call Subaru Careline Assist at 1800-22-9898 or bring their vehicles to any authorised Subaru service centre by Dec 31.
