KUALA LUMPUR: The all-new BMW R 12 is a motorcycle that combines the brand’s legacy with modern engineering and technology.
Like the 530i and MINI Countryman, the R 12 is not officially ready for sale pending price approval. BMW estimated the motorcycle's final price to be around RM123,000.
Designed for riders who seek both classic appeal and innovative performance, the cruiser features a 1,170cc water-cooled 2-cylinder 4-stroke R boxer engine delivering 95hp at 6,500 rpm and 110Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm, with a top speed exceeding 200kph.
The engine operates through a 6-speed gearbox, offering smooth handling on various road types.
The R 12 is equipped with advanced features for safety and comfort.
It includes LED headlight and taillight systems, Adaptive Headlight Pro, Dynamic Brake Lights, and multiple Ride Modes, such as "Rock & Roll," ensuring maximum visibility and a tailored riding experience. Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), BMW Motorrad ABS Pro with optimised banking angles, and Gear Shift Assistant Pro are also part of the bike's high-tech offerings.
For long-distance riders, the R 12 features a Comfort Package that includes Cruise Control, Hillstart Control and Heated Grips.
The Keyless Ride system, USB charging port, and Connected Ride Control further enhance convenience and connectivity during rides.
The R 12’s design incorporates vintage-inspired elements, such as Aventurin Red Metallic paint, light alloy cast wheels, a stainless-steel exhaust, and a sleek open shaft drive, creating a classic yet modern cruiser.
