KUALA LUMPUR: Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has launched the first all-electric Mercedes-Maybach model, marking the first electric Maybach to enter Malaysia.
The new Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV is the first fully electric, dedicated Mercedes-Maybach model and is aimed at redefining the top-end luxury segment with advanced electromobility.
The car is priced from RM1,088,888 (on-the-road with 10% sales tax, without insurance).
It has a 608km range (WLTP).
The cabin of the Night Series EQS SUV has a dark sporty theme, while the lighter cabin (below) comes with MANUFAKTUR bits.
The fully imported vehicle is based on the same underpinnings as its Mercedes EQS SUV sibling and offers a cocoon-like experience in the rear seats.
It is powered by dual permanently excited synchronous motors, providing fully variable 4Matic all-wheel drive. Additionally, it features rear-axle steering, enhancing maneuverability and driving dynamics.
The two motors deliver a combined output of 658hp and 950Nm of torque, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100kph in just 4.4 seconds.
The 118 kWh Li-ion battery provides an estimated range of up to 608km, with 200kW DC fast charging capabilities that can recharge the battery from 10-80% in around 30 minutes.
The EQS 680 SUV has been built to combine state-of-the-art technology with the design elements unique to the Mercedes-Maybach range.
The exterior features a prominent Mercedes-Benz star on the hood and a large black front panel with vertical, chrome-plated trim strips.
Radar sensors are integrated within the panel, which has a high-gloss black finish.
Additional exterior elements include chrome-plated decorative slats on the air intake, integrated MAYBACH lettering on decorative strips, and a continuous light strip provided by the DIGITAL LIGHT headlights.
The vehicle also features a projection of the Maybach emblem onto the ground when the doors are opened, along with an animated projection of the Maybach pattern on the floor.
The side profile of the EQS 680 SUV is marked by bold chrome surrounds on the side windows, chrome-plated B-pillar trim, and a Maybach emblem on the D-pillar.
The lettering EQS is subtly integrated into the front window triangle.
The wheel arches, claddings in high-gloss black, and exclusive 21-inch Maybach multi-spoke light-alloy wheels further accentuate the design.
Running boards, made of anodised aluminium and illuminated in the dark, complete the exterior details.
At the rear, the SUV is fitted with a continuous light strip that spans the full width of the vehicle, chrome trim elements on the tailgate, rear apron and spoiler lip, and additional MAYBACH lettering.
The vehicle is available in five two-tone paint combinations applied by hand to meet high-quality criteria.
Inside, the cabin of the Maybach EQS 680 SUV is designed to offer a high level of comfort and functionality.
The dashboard is dominated by the MBUX Hyperscreen, which spans three displays and offers specific start-up animations for the Mercedes-Maybach model.
The instrument cluster features an animated display in “MAYBACH” mode, with dynamic elements that adjust with driving conditions. The system is similar in functionality to that found in the standard EQS SUV, offering three display styles and three modes, including navigation, assistance, and service.
Rear passengers have access to dual 11.6-inch displays on the backrests of the front seats and an MBUX rear tablet, which can also be used outside the vehicle.
The interior design uses natural materials, including MANUFAKTUR open-pore walnut and birch wood trims, combined with Exclusive Nappa leather in various warm tones.
Notably, this is the first model in the Mercedes-Benz family to incorporate sustainably processed leather.
The interior also includes multiple integrated Maybach emblems, which appear on the pedal system, headrest cushions, front seat backrests, and as a projection in the rear footwell.
The vehicle is further equipped with automatic comfort doors that open and close based on the driver’s proximity.
Recessed door handles extend when approached from about six metres, and the driver’s door opens automatically when within 1.5 metres. These functions can be controlled via the MBUX central display.
Additional convenience features include a refrigerated centre console, multiple USB-C ports, wireless charging, and HDMI interfaces.
The Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV offers advanced driving comfort with its AIRMATIC air suspension, which allows for continuously adjustable damping and a ground clearance that can be increased by up to 25 millimetres.
Rear-axle steering with an angle of up to 10 degrees reduces the turning circle, and the vehicle includes a special MAYBACH drive programme designed to minimise body movement for rear passengers.
Enhanced NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness) measures have been implemented, especially for the rear compartment, to ensure a quiet ride. The vehicle also features a Disconnect Unit (DCU) that decouples the front electric motor under low load conditions to improve range.
A Burmester 4D surround sound system with Dolby Atmos and a custom “Aerial Grace” driving sound are integrated into the vehicle, offering a tailored audio experience.
The sound system includes 15 speakers, providing individual adjustments per MBUX user profile.
In summary, the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV combines advanced electric drive technology, exclusive design elements and high-quality materials to deliver a new option in the luxury SUV segment in Malaysia.

With ample room to create a bespoke car, customers can customise the exterior and interior of the Maybach EQS 680 SUV via the Mercedes-Benz car configurator.
At the launch today, two units of the Maybach EQS 680 were on display. One was specified with the MANUFAKTUR package and priced at around RM1.2mil, while the other unit came with the Night Series package and carries a RM1.3mil sticker price.
The MANUFAKTUR bespoke program offered by Mercedes-Benz, allows customers to personalise their vehicles beyond standard configurations. This program provides an exclusive selection of materials, colours, and finishes, enabling a highly individualised experience. The Maybach EQS 680 is built at the company's Sindelfingen plant on the outskirts of Stuttgart. It is produced alongside the S-Class sedan and its long-wheelbase version.
