Mercedes-Benz GLB 200 and GLB 250 4Matic updated from RM290,000


KUALA LUMPUR: The Mercedes-Benz GLB compact sports utility vehicle (SUV) lineup has been updated with enhanced exteriors to accentuate its sporty appearance.

The vehicle now showcases a new radiator grille styling, front apron, headlamp and taillight design as well as the sporty Night Package design elements in high-gloss black from radiator shell to the roof rails.

Available in variants of the front-wheel drive GLB 200 and all-wheel drive GLB 250 4Matic, they are priced at RM290,888 and RM341,888 (on the road without insurance and 10% sales tax) respectively.

The GLB 200 has a Progressive Line exterior while the GLB 250 4Matic comes with an AMG Line exterior.

The grille of the GLB 200 comes with four horizontal louvres while the GLB 250 4Matic sports a radiator grille with single louvres and chrome inserts.

Exclusive to the GLB 250 4Matic are the AMG front apron with front splitter and AMG rear apron visible tailpipe trim in high-gloss black.

The new full-LED headlights and rear lights enhance the appearance, with the range of options now expanded with a new Spectral Blue Metallic paint colour.

The LED High Performance headlamps feature Adaptive Highbeam Assist which automatically switches on the high beams if it does not detect any illuminated vehicles ahead or in oncoming traffic.

Wheels are the 18-inch 5-twin-spoke light-alloy for the GLB 200 while 19-inch AMG 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels are used on the GLB 250 4Matic.

The latest generation of MBUX infotainment system, featuring the dual 10.25-inch wide-screen displays for the respective instrument cluster and multimedia screen, has also been updated to access Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wirelessly.

Hard-disc navigation is available via the Mercedes me store.

The new lineup gets comfort seats, which are upholstered in Artico man-made leather on the GLB 200 and Artico man-made leather/Microcut microfibre on the GLB 250 4Matic.

The GLB 200 comes with a Star-pattern trim and the GLB 250 4Matic has a Star Pattern backlit trim which interacts with the ambient lighting.

Other features include ambient lighting with 64 colours, Thermotronic automatic climate control, Blind Spot Assist, Exit Warning Assist, Active Brake Assist, and Parking Package with reverse camera.

Keyless-Go Comfort package, Easy-Pack tailgate, and Guard 360° Vehicle protection are also available.

Powering the GLB 200 is a 1.33-litre turbo engine delivering 120kW(163hp) and 270Nm of torque mated to a seven-speed 7G-DCT transmission.

The GLB 250 4Matic gets a larger 2.0-litre turbo engine with 165kW(224hp) and 350Nm of torque coupled to an eight-speed 8G-DCT transmission.

The GLB 250 4Matic also get an additional 48-volt electrical system for the belt-driven starter generator that provides a brief additional power of 10kW to support agile starting and acceleration boost.

In addition to increased comfort, the starter-generator also allows low-vibration and low-noise engine starting, and enables coasting with the combustion engine switched off.

It recuperates during braking and acceleration, and supplies the recovered energy to 12-volt on-board network and the 48-volt battery.
