KUALA LUMPUR: Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has unveiled the latest addition to its EQS line-up with the advent of the luxury seven-seater full-electric EQS 450 4Matic SUV (sports utility vehicle).
Introduced at the premiere of the Mercedes-Benz FashionWeek Kuala Lumpur 2024 here, the SUV is priced on-the-road without insurance at RM625,888 and deliveries are expected to start from September.
For peace of mind, it comes with a standard four-year unlimited-mileage vehicle warranty while the battery gets covered by a 10-year or 250,000km (whichever comes first) coverage.
The electric motors, powered by a 118kWh (usable) lithium-ion battery pack, provide a total systems output of 265kW (360hp) and 800Nm of torque for its 4Matic all-wheel drive system which comes with Offroad Driving Mode to help enhance its capabilities over challenging terrains.
This is included within the Dynamic Select driving modes which include Eco, Comfort, Sport and Individual as well.
Depending on the selected modes, this will adjust the Airmatic air suspension system accordingly which continuously adjusts its ADS+ damping system and can be used to raise its ride height by several centimetres (Off-Road mode).
The 4Matic system is said to provide the most efficient electric drive train (eATS) experience for both front and rear axles.
Together with Torque Shift function, it will intelligently and continuously distribute torque between the front and the rear permanently excited synchronous motors (PSM).
For comfort and handling, the chassis uses a four-link axle at the front and a multi-link suspension at the rear which comes fitted with as rear-axle steering system of up to 10 degrees for added agility within tight confines.
The battery supports AC charging (Type 2 connection) up to 22kW and can get from 0-100% state-of-charge in six hours and 15 minutes.
Charging the battery from 10% to 80% via a fast DC charger (up to 200kW) can be achieved in 31 minutes.
Although this 2,840kg (kerb) SUV can get from 0 to 100kph in 6.1 seconds and cruise at a top speed of 210kph, it can provide anywhere from 594km to 673km of range (WLTP) and consume 20.1 to 22.8kWh of power per 100km.
Externally, this seven-seater SUV comes with 22-inch AMG multi-spoke wheels with 275/40 series tyres (front and rear) and is part of the AMG Line Exterior as standard.
This also includes a Black Panel radiator grille with a star pattern and illuminated running boards.
Among its standard inclusions is the Digital Light with Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus which comes with an animated surround lighting system and a panoramic sliding sunroof.
Inside, the boasts of spaciousness with avant-garde luxury and multi-contour front seats.
There are also third-row seats for two additional passengers and climatised front seats with three-stage ventilation and heating as brown open-pore magnolia wood trim, Mercedes-Benz patterned aluminium accents and nappa leather upholstery in black and balao brown for added up-market opulence.
The Urban Guard Plus system comes as standard as well and provides a comprehensive vehicle protection system with all-around monitoring system, anti-theft alarm system and emergency key deactivation.
Additionally, Parking Package is featured here together with a 360-degree camera system with a transparent bonnet, a mirror package and a tyre pressure monitor system.
For added convenience, Keyless-Go, Hands-Free Access, Easy-Pack tailgate, USB package plus and an Acoustic Comfort Package gets thrown in.
For safety, the SUV is equipped with the Driving Assistance Package Plus that includes Active Distance Assist Distronic, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Steering Assist, evasive manoeuvre support, and Pre-Safe Impulse Side.

Trimmel said the EQS 450 SUV is also the pinnacle of luxury and versatility by combining the sleek design of the AMG Line with a highly adaptable and intelligent interior.
