Mercedes-AMG GT 63 Pro 4Matic+ gets Goodwood reveal

LONDON: Mercedes-AMG introduced the newest addition to the AMG GT lineup, the GT 63 Pro 4Matic+, at the just-ended Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Targeted at driving enthusiasts, this model combines advanced driving dynamics with enhanced power and aerodynamic improvements for a superior driving experience, especially on race tracks. The vehicle's specifications include a combined energy consumption of 14.1 l/100 km and CO2 emissions of 319 g/km.

The second-generation AMG GT 63 Pro offers a blend of performance and practicality. Customer feedback led to a design that enhances everyday usability while maintaining the exceptional driving dynamics of the AMG GT series. The model provides a spacious interior, good visibility, and an optional 2+2 seating configuration.

Key features include the AMG Active Ride Control suspension, rear-axle steering, and active aerodynamics, all contributing to a sharpened driving Profile. The fully variable AMG Performance 4Matic+ all-wheel drive ensures the vehicle's power is effectively translated to the road.

The GT 63 Pro is equipped with a 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine, delivering 450 kW (612 hp) and 850 Nm of torque, an increase from the previous AMG GT 63 model. This power boost, achieved through engine control unit adaptations, allows the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 200 kph in just 10.9 seconds, with a top speed of 317 kph.

To maintain optimal performance under high loads, the GT 63 Pro features an expanded cooling system.

Two additional radiators in the front wheel arches enhance cooling efficiency, while the drivetrain benefits from actively cooled top-mounted radiators for both front and rear differentials and the all-wheel-drive transfer case.

Electrically operated water pumps ensure consistent coolant circulation, preventing overheating even under strenuous conditions.

The GT 63 Pro's aerodynamic design has been fine-tuned to improve both longitudinal and lateral dynamics. A redesigned front apron with visible carbon fibre air deflectors, an active aerodynamic Profile, and a fixed rear wing contribute to reduced aerodynamic lift and increased downforce.

These improvements lead to more precise steering and overall enhanced performance.

The vehicle comes standard with an AMG ceramic high-performance composite brake system, featuring the largest ceramic brake discs available from Mercedes-AMG.

These brakes, along with lightweight titanium-backed discs, offer reduced weight, imProved durability, and resistance to fading. The GT 63 Pro also boasts 21-inch forged wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tyres, Providing superior grip and handling.

The GT 63 Pro's design emphasizes its motorsport heritage, featuring an AMG Exterior Carbon Fibre package with carbon fibre splitter, side sills, diffuser, and rear wing. The interior includes AMG Performance seats, a Nappa leather/Microcut microfibre steering wheel, and black-painted brake callipers, all standard.
