PETALING JAYA: Mercedes-Benz Malaysia today rolled out the new Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 4Matic+ Coupé, upgrading its GLE Coupé model to make it sportier both on the exterior and interior.
The GLE 53 was launched alongside the GLC 300 Coupe. Both arrive as fully imported models.
The GLE 53 is priced at RM873,888 (on-the-road without insurance with 10% sales tax), while the GLC Coupe retails at RM469,888.
The car features a revised front apron, daytime running lights, and rear lamps. The powerful engine, a 435hp 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder petrol engine with a Twin-scroll turbocharger is coupled to a 9-speed AMG Speedshift TCT automatic sports transmission to provide a sporty driving experience.
The engine has been updated to increase the maximum torque from 520Nm to 560Nm, resulting in a more dynamic acceleration from zero to 100kph in 5.0 seconds. The car also features an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) and a 48-volt electrical system, as well as the AMG Active Ride Control for minimal rolling movements and excellent driving comfort.
The ISG delivers an extra 20hp and 200Nm of torque. It combines starter and alternator in one powerful electric motor and is installed between the engine and the transmission. The ISG also performs hybrid functions, which include boosting, recuperation, load point shifting, sailing and the almost imperceptible restarting of the engine during the start/stop function.
The 0-100kph sprint is attained in 5s and the GLE 53 can keep going to reach a top speed of 250kph.
On the exterior, the GLE 53 has a more sporty and high-class appearance. It is equipped with Multibeam LED headlamps, a revised front apron with side air intakes, and a radiator grille in AMG design.
The rear features revised LED tail lamps and a two-pipe exhaust system. The car also comes with 22-inch AMG cross-spoke forged wheels, illuminated running boards, and a panoramic sliding sunroof.
The AMG Night package offers selected exterior elements finished in high-gloss black. Inside, the car showcases angular air vents, Artico man-made leather paired with AMG carbon-fibre trim, multicontour front seats, and AMG Nappa leather black upholstery.
The AMG Performance steering wheel in Nappa leather with AMG steering wheel buttons ensures drivers keep their eyes on the road. The car also features a head-up display, Burmester 3D surround sound system, and Thermotronic automatic climate control with 4 climate zones.
The new GLE 53 comes with a widescreen cockpit featuring two fully digital colour displays, each with a diagonal 12.3-inch screen.
The MBUX Interior Assistant detects and interprets the driver's and front passenger's hand and arm movements, allowing them to activate selected functions instantly.
The car also has MBUX Augmented Reality Navigation, which connects the virtual world with the real world to help drivers navigate complex traffic situations.
In terms of safety, the car is equipped with the Driving Assistance Package Plus, which includes features such as Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, Extended automatic Re-start in traffic jams, Exit warning function, Active Steering Assist, and Pre-Safe Impulse Side.
Additional safety features include sidebags in the rear, Parking Package with a 360-degree camera, and Guard 360° vehicle protection.
