McLaren rolls out 690hp Artura Spider
By CARSIFU | 28 February 2024LONDON: McLaren unveiled on Tuesday the Artura Spider, marking the company's first foray into convertible supercars with a high-performance hybrid powertrain, alongside an updated version of the Artura coupe.
Both 2025 models, available for pre-order now with deliveries starting mid-year, boast significant enhancements in power and performance, including a high-powered hybrid engine producing 690hp, offering a unique blend of high-speed circuit capability and quiet electric urban driving.
The Artura Spider, designed for maximum driver engagement and performance, features a retractable hard-top that can open in just 11 seconds, adding an exhilarating open-air dimension to its driving experience.
Weighing in at just 1,457kg dry, it claims the title of the lightest in its class, with a power-to-weight ratio of 473hp/tonne, thanks to McLaren's use of super-lightweight engineering and the McLaren Carbon Lightweight Architecture (MCLA).
Both the Spider and coupe versions have received a recalibrated powertrain, now offering an additional 19hp from the V6 combustion engine, bringing total power output to 690hp.
This recalibration enhances performance across the rev range and will be available to existing Artura owners at no extra cost.
The hybrid system combines a compact V6 with an axial flux E-motor, providing instant torque and impressive acceleration figures, such as 0-100kph in 3.0 seconds.
The Artura models also feature advanced aerodynamics, a bespoke suspension system, and cutting-edge technology, including an innovative ethernet electrical architecture and enhanced driver assistance systems.
The interiors offer luxurious materials, state-of-the-art infotainment, and unique seating options for optimal comfort and engagement.
The Artura Spider is priced from £221,500 (RM1.3mil) in the UK for the standard specification.
There are three further interior specifications, each available for an additional £5,050 (RM31,000): Performance, which has a more sporting aesthetic; TechLux, where the focus is on the technical luxury that the name suggests; and Vision, which displays a more avant-garde and adventurous look and feel.
The Artura comes standard with a five-year, unlimited mileage vehicle warranty; a six-year, 75,000km battery warranty and a 10-year anti-perforation body warranty.
These warranties can be extended. A three-year service plan is also included, as is a five-year roadside assistance package.
