Maserati Grecale in electric form at 2023 Shanghai Auto Show

SHANGHAI: Following the launch of the electric GranTurismo in 2022, Maserati is rolling out its second electric car - the Grecale Folgore at the 2023 Shanghai Auto Show.

The electric GranTurismo and other current models were also on display at the April 18-27 show.

The Grecale Folgore arrived on the market a year after the hybrid and petrol models. It is equipped with a 105kWh (97kWh usable) battery using 400V technology. The SUV is capable of a top DC charge rate of 150 kW, which enables DC charging from 20% to 80% in around half an hour, while 22kW AC charging is standard but time to go from zero to full charge was not specified.

Maserati’s new electric SUV can deliver as much as 820Nm of torque, guaranteeing performance typical of the brand. Courtesy of the 100% electric propulsion, it offers 410kW/550hp and a top speed of 220kph.

WLTP range is 426km to 501km.

Grecale Folgore is also recognisable for its exclusive Rame Folgore colour (copper colour).

One of the key features of the Grecale Folgore is its use of innovative materials such as Econyl, a regenerated nylon made from recovered waste like fishing nets and fabric scraps, offering both aesthetic appeal and sustainability.

Externally, the Grecale Folgore boasts a distinctive design, with modifications including an inverted grille for cooling and aerodynamically designed 19-inch, 20-inch, or 21-inch aero wheels, inspired by the Trident emblem.

Inside, the Folgore embossed pattern on the dashboard, carbon copper 3D touch interior trim, and sport 14-way Econyl electric seats contribute to a luxurious and eco-friendly cabin environment.

Technological advancements are evident as shown by the 12.3-inch central display, wireless smartphone integration, and the MIA Maserati Intelligent Assistant providing digital experiences for drivers.

In Europe and China, Maserati offers an all-inclusive charging solution for Grecale Folgore users, including access to extensive charging networks and a wallbox for home charging.

Maserati said its Charge app enables seamless management of both home and public charging, with features such as automatic battery pre-conditioning and EV routing to optimise the charging experience and journey planning.
