LONDON: Volkswagen joins Rolls-Royce in celebrating Valentine's Day.
The German carmaker is doing it its way by offering a rose-covered electric hot hatch to spark some romance.
A sporty Volkswagen ID.3 GTX Performance has been covered in about 3,000 roses and parked on London’s famous South Bank – a location synonymous with sweethearts after providing a backdrop to film favourites such as Love Actually and Four Weddings And A Funeral.
It took award-winning Steph Lovell Flowers nine hours to cover the Volkswagen in red, pink and white rose petals.
The car is also filled with 200 roses, which will be handed out to onlookers by special guest Emma Barnes, who starred in last year’s Married At First Sight UK.

People can grab pictures and selfies with Emma and the car, and share them on social media using #LoveVolkswagen.
Those looking for love might take the opportunity for some sports-car-inspired speed dating, while anyone hoping to supercharge their relationships could even use the added flower power to pop the question.
The ID.3 GTX Performance is at Riverside Slice from 10am to 3.30pm on Valentine’s Day, and Emma will be there from midday to 2pm. It’s the very spot where, in Love Actually, Sam admits to his dad, Daniel, that he has met the girl of his dreams at school – and together they drum up a plan to help Sam win her affections.

The ID.3 GTX Performance is Volkswagen’s smallest all-electric hot hatch.
It has already set pulses racing since going on sale in the UK last year, thanks to its 322hp in acceleration, which sprints the car from 0 to 100kph in just 5.7 seconds, and a top speed of 199kph.
Head-turning colour choices include Kings red metallic, as seen on the rose-covered car here.
Price for the ID.3 GTX Performance starts from £46,315 (RM259,000).

Emma Barnes.
