By CARSIFU | 19 January 2025NEW DELHI: Kia has begun production of the Syros SUV at its Anantapur plant in Andhra Pradesh, India, following the model’s global debut in December 2024.
The milestone was celebrated at a ceremony attended by Kia executives, including president and CEO Ho Sung Song and Kia India managing director Gwanggu Lee.
The Syros, a five-seat SUV designed to meet the specific needs of Indian consumers, has recorded 10,258 pre-sales, highlighting strong market interest ahead of its official launch on Feb 1. Kia describes the Syros as a blend of bold design and functional versatility, created under the brand's "Opposites United" design philosophy.
Under the hood, the Syros boasts two engine options: Smartstream 1.0-litre turbo petrol with 88.3 kW (120PS)/172Nm and 1.5-litre CRDi diesel with 85 kW (116PS)/ 250Nm paired with manual and automatic transmission.
The SUV introduces several first-in-segment features, including sliding, reclining, and ventilated rear seats, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, and over-the-air software update capabilities. Connectivity is another focus, with more than 80 advanced features and a Harman Kardon premium sound system.
Safety is bolstered through Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) offering 16 autonomous features such as Forward Collision Avoidance Assist and Lane Keep Assist. Additionally, 20 standard safety features include Electronic Stability Control, six airbags, and an electric parking brake.
The Syros will be available in four standard trims and 2 option trims – offering a range of options to cater to the diverse needs and preferences of consumers.
Kia plans to expand the model’s availability to the Asia-Pacific, Latin American, and Middle Eastern markets later.
