Jaguar unveils Type 00 Concept that will pave way for future models
By CARSIFU | 03 December 2024MIAMI: Jaguar has revealed the Type 00 design vision concept at Miami Art Week, marking a significant step in its transformation into an electric-only luxury brand.
Rooted in its original "Copy Nothing" ethos, the concept introduces Jaguar's new creative philosophy, "Exuberant Modernism".
The Type 00 concept is intended to inspire future Jaguar models. The "Type" alludes to past models like the E-type. The first zero references zero tailpipe emissions. The second represents its status as car zero in the new Jaguar lineage.
Jaguar plans to launch its first reimagined production car, a four-door electric GT, in late 2025. The vehicle will be made in Britain, setting the stage for an elevated lineup of luxury EVs. The GT is expected to aim for a range of up to 770km (WLTP) and the ability to add up to 321km of range in as little as 15 minutes when rapid charging.
As for the concept, it features a dramatic silhouette with a long bonnet, fastback profile, sweeping roofline, and 23-inch alloy wheels. This distinct design challenges electric vehicle conventions, showcasing Jaguar's intent to stand out in a competitive EV market.
The Type 00’s design integrates flush surfaces, a glassless rear tailgate, and a panoramic roof with harmonised body glazing, highlighting sculptural aesthetics.
Two debut colours, Miami Pink and London Blue, reflect the concept's artistic and heritage influences. Miami Pink pays homage to Miami’s Art Deco architecture, while London Blue draws inspiration from Jaguar’s British roots.
The Type 00 is built on Jaguar’s new dedicated Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA), designed to deliver exceptional handling, ride comfort, and long range.
The interior of the Type 00 mirrors its exterior in terms of innovation and artistry. Butterfly doors open to reveal a modernist cabin featuring brass, travertine stone, and textiles.
A 3.2-metre brass spine runs through the cabin, flanked by floating instrument panels and woven wool blend seats.
Deployable screens, powered stowage compartments, and Clearsight display technology enhance functionality without overshadowing the cabin's design.
A "Prism Case" allows occupants to personalise ambient lighting, soundscapes, and scents, creating a highly customised experience.
The Type 00 introduces new brand elements such as the forward-facing Jaguar "leaper" emblem and a monogram replacing the traditional "Growler." These updates signify Jaguar's evolution towards an electric future while honouring its legacy.
Jaguar plans to enhance its global presence through exclusive brand stores, beginning with a Paris location.
These stores will offer immersive experiences, blending local culture with Jaguar's luxury ethos.
