Jaecoo J7 excels in off-road tests in Malaysia
By CARSIFU | 26 January 2024KUALA LUMPUR: The Jaecoo J7 premium sport utility vehicle (SUV) recently showed off its off-roading chops in tests conducted by the Malaysia 4WD Training and Experience Centre (M4TREC).
M4TREC is touted as a world-class 4WD obstacle course with challenging terrain.
M4TREC's expert trainers set up a variety of obstacles during testing, including roller ramps, articulation tests, ridge crossings, steep slope descents and more.
The J7 showed what the experts claimed to be peer-leading capability on tough road conditions, while its chassis tuning delivered impressive results in the moose test at 80kph.
Notably, the J7 incorporates the advanced All Road Drive Intelligent System (ARDIS), allowing for 0.1 second 4WD instant intervention.
Moreover, its Integrated Power Brake (IPB) system delivers eight key advantages including high integration, faster braking, no performance decay, and automatic intervention.
These advancements enable the J7 to easily navigate through various road conditions and unexpected situations.
"The J7's remarkable off-road capabilities have left us astounded, exemplified by its seamless navigation through the rugged and demanding terrains at M4TREC," said an M4TREC certified instructor.
As Jaecoo's first premium urban off-road SUV, the J7 has a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol direct injected (TGDI) engine, delivering maximum power of 145kW/197PS and peak torque of 290Nm, on par with 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engines in the luxury segment.
This is mated to a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission (7DCT), enabling lightning-fast gear shifts in mere 0.2 seconds.
