inDrive marks 5 billion deals
By CARSIFU | 31 December 2024KUALA LUMPUR: inDrive, the global mobility and urban services platform, has reached a milestone of completing 5 billion deals worldwide as of September 2024.
The landmark moment was achieved by a driver and passenger in Peru, highlighting the platform's growing global footprint since its inception in 2012 with its unique bid-based pricing model.
This milestone coincides with the rapid expansion of Southeast Asia’s ride-hailing market, including Malaysia.
In a statement, the company said the Malaysian ride-hailing sector alone is expected to grow at a CAGR of 3.5% from 2024 to 2029, reaching a projected market volume of USD 0.57 billion (RM 2.48 billion).
Since entering Malaysia, inDrive has established its presence in key cities such as the Klang Valley, Penang, and Johor Bahru.
During the first half of 2024, the company recorded a 20% surge in rides and a 21% increase in active users, reflecting Malaysians' growing preference for its transparent, driver-passenger negotiation model.
Active driver numbers are also expected to rise by 23% by the end of the year, meeting the growing demand for equitable ride-hailing services.
inDrive president and deputy CEO Mark Loughran commented, “Our mission has always been to improve people’s lives, and with this milestone, we are even closer to our goal of positively impacting 1 billion people by 2030.”
inDrive has extended its innovative bid-based model beyond ridesharing to include services such as city-to-city and intercity transportation, courier deliveries, freight services, and urban solutions like housekeeping and small home repairs.
Over the past 11 years, inDrive passengers have traveled a total of 123,500 years, covering 32 billion km, reflecting the platform’s evolution from the world’s second-most downloaded mobility app to a global multi-service platform operating across 46 countries.
Most recently, inDrive has introduced financial services for drivers in Mexico.
