PETALING JAYA: Chinese automaker Great Wall Motor (GWM) has announced that the first batch of 66 units of the Cannon Ultra pick-up truck is now open for booking in Malaysia.
GWM did not reveal the price but a dealer has indicated it to be around RM128,000.
According to a statement from GWM, the Cannon Ultra is a versatile vehicle, which combines the comfort and convenience of a sedan, the off-road capabilities of an SUV, the leisure features of a travel car, and the load-carrying capacity of a light-duty truck.
The bold chrome-plated grille is accompanied by full-LED headlights and a rugged exterior styling.
The cabin features extensive soft-touch materials, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, seven airbags, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system (compatible with Apple CarPlay + Android Auto).
The Cannon Ultra is equipped with an electronic gear shifter, auto hold electronic parking brake, front electric seat adjustment, rear air vents and a 3-pin plug socket.
It also has Level 2 driver assistance systems, comprising adaptive cruise control (ACC), automatic emergency braking (AEB), lane-keeping assist (LKA), blind-spot detection (BSD), and a 360-degree camera.
It is powered by a 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine paired with a ZF 8-speed transmission, producing 163hp and peak torque of 400Nm.
The pick-up truck comes with an intelligent four-wheel-drive system and four driving modes.
The Cannon has today made its mark in over 50 countries and regions worldwide. GWM recently celebrated the production of the 500,000th Cannon.
