Goodyear Assurance MaxGuard tyre: Better wet road performance
By CARSIFU | 25 September 2023KUALA LUMPUR: Goodyear Malaysia has launched the Assurance MaxGuard tyre with ActiveGrip Technology that enables vehicles to stop faster and safer.
The pioneering design of the water-wave shield pattern helps to increase friction and the optimised cavity shape increases the contact patch by 10% (comparing with silica content of Assurance TripleMax 2 compound).
Both features contribute to better performance on the wet road with shorter braking distance.
The new generation of full silica tread compound with 80% more silica (comparing with Assurance TripleMax 2) combined with a wet booster resin can adjust to the road roughness with more micro contact to achieve a stronger grip on the road, especially under wet conditions.
To build stronger and tougher tyres to withstand road impacts, the engineers leveraged the DuraGuard Technology to optimise the compound materials and tyre construction.
Extra robustness is supported by two layers carcass ply with higher cord density and strength and two belts with high tensile steel to cope with unexpected cuts and impacts.
Besides outstanding performance on the wet road and durability, the Assurance MaxGuard is built to deliver the very best in mileage as well.
Non-skid gauges are increased by 10% to enhance wearable rubber volume while high-performance polymers matrix is added into the new compound formation to provide good wear resistance.
“When engineering the Assurance MaxGuard tyre, we wanted to introduce a new level of safety to enable our consumers to explore the unlimited possibilities on the road,” said Goodyear vice president of Asia Pacific product development Greg Hanna.
"The exceptional wet performance and the reliable durability of the product offer 2-in-1 protection, ensuring everyone’s safety.”
The Assurance MaxGuardwill be available in 18 sizes for 15, 16 and 17-inch rims in Malaysia priced from RM250 to RM485.
The tyre fits a wide range of mid-level sedans, including Toyota Camry, Honda Civic, Volkswagen Passat and other popular models.
Additionally, upon buying any Goodyear consumer tyres, customers can register for the Worry Free Assurance (WFA) Warranty, which offers a 1-year road hazard warranty to protect customers against road hazard damage, 2 times free tyre safety checks for additional peace of mind while driving, and 5 years warranty for any manufacturing defects of the purchased tyres.
