Geely's VREMT showcases 800V EV tech at Frankfurt expo

FRANKFURT: VREMT is another Geely-owned company few people have heard of before but it plays a key role in the electric vehicle supply chain.

VREMT represented Geely for the first time at the Electric Vehicles Expo at Automechanika here, which wrapped up on Sept 14.

The Geely subsidiary showcased its advanced 800V battery, motor, and control solutions, positioning China at the forefront of new energy technology.

VREMT unveiled its second-generation "golden battery," which charges from 10% to 80% in 10.5 minutes, surpassing all existing ternary lithium batteries.

It features a high pulse discharge rate enabling 0-100kph acceleration in under 3 seconds. The battery is said to meet the highest global safety standards, passing extreme safety tests, including fire resistance and overpressure penetration.

Also highlighted was VREMT’s 800V SiC four-motor drive system, offering 930kW peak output and 1,280Nm torque, enabling features like "Tank Turns" and "Slalom" maneuvers in the ZEEKR 001FR.

Additionally, the 800V ultra-fast liquid-cooled charging platform set a global record with 800kW peak power, charging in 10 minutes.

VREMT’s technology has been adopted by brands like Volvo, Lotus, and Polestar, all of which Geely has a stake in.
