BEIJING: Jidu Auto has unveiled the Jidu 07, billed as the world’s first "premium AI-powered electric sedan".
Backed by Baidu’s advanced AI technology and built on Geely’s SEA (Sustainable Experience Architecture) platform, the Jidu 07 features autonomous capabilities with stylish design.
CEO Joe Xia described the Jidu 07 as “the world’s first intelligent sedan,” emphasising its advanced AI driving experience.
The car features an aerodynamic design with a drag coefficient of 0.249, a spacious interior, and a minimalist approach with few physical controls. Users interact with the car through SIMO, an intelligent AI partner.
Jidu Auto said the car comes with high safety and performance.
It has a torsional rigidity of 40,000 Nm/Deg and a roof that can support up to 10.6 tons. The sedan is equipped with Baidu’s bespoke Apollo Self-Driving (ASD) system, enabling autonomous driving features such as automatic gear shifting, lane changes, pedestrian avoidance, and intelligent speed control, even in complex urban environments.
Powered by CATL’s latest Qilin battery, the Jidu 07 offers a range of up to 880km on the CLTC cycle, 530kW/711hp of power, and acceleration from 0-100kph in 3.5 seconds.
The 800V silicon carbide technology delivers a top speed of 230kph, placing the Jidu 07 among high-performance electric vehicles.
The car’s futuristic design includes an extra-large clamshell hood, AI-interactive headlights, and a door handle-free design.
Its interior prioritises comfort, offering extended legroom, ventilated seats, and a three-layer massage system. Safety is enhanced by a monitoring system, which processes data 500 times per second, and a Brembo braking system.
The model represents a significant milestone for Jidu Auto, with over US$20 billion invested in development, supported by Geely’s US$87.5 billion commitment to SEA architecture and CATL’s US$8.7 billion investment in advanced battery technologies. This is the second model after the Jidu 01 SUV.
Geely Holding Group chairman Li Shu-fu said the Jidu 07 was expected to deliver "an unparalleled driving experience, setting new standards for performance and quality."
Pre-orders are expected to open soon.
Jidu is a joint-venture between Geely and Baidu.
