From city streets to rugged trails: Aveta unveils affordable VTM 250 adventure bike

RAWANG: The Aveta VTM 250, launched today, aims to make it affordable enough so that anyone can go dirt biking.

The dual purpose motorcycle is available in the LX and M variants, priced at RM12,988 (excluding insurance and road tax) and RM13,388 respectively.

Both variants are backed by a one-year or 10,000km warranty, whichever comes first.

The LX and the M variants target different user groups.

The LX, launching in late October, is designed for enduro riders, offering high ground clearance of 305mm and larger wheels for off-road performance. In contrast, the M variant, expected by December, is a supermoto-style commuter bike with 290mm clearance and 17-inch aluminum rims for better street handling.

Both versions are powered by a 250cc oil-cooled 4-stroke single-cylinder petrol engine and a 6-speed manual transmission, ensuring a balance between power and fuel efficiency. The engine makes 14kW/18.8hp at 8,500rpm and peak torque of 18Nm at 6,500rpm. It gets an electric starter and the M version features an antilock braking system that can be turned on or off by the rider.

The LX comes in Arsenal Red or Army Green, while the M is available in Blazing Red or Admiral Blue.

Aveta Group managing director Steven Lim said the VTM 250 is designed for both on- and off-road use, equipped with signal lights and side mirrors to ensure they are road legal.

Over 90% of such bikes in the market are not road legal as they do not have headlights, signal lights or rearview mirrors, and have to be transported in a pick-up truck to the offroad destination, Lim told CarSifu. The VTM 250 removes the logistical challenge as the owner can just ride the bike on public roads to the destination, he said.

Lim also expressed confidence in the bike’s ability to cater to adventure seekers as well as daily commuters, citing Aveta's commitment to providing affordable, adventure-oriented motorcycles.

Aveta plans to build on the success of its previous Ranger Max Explorer model and is optimistic about the market response to the VTM 250.

The company also announced plans for new model releases in 2025, all aimed at the adventure lifestyle segment.

Additionally, Aveta is enhancing its aftersales support through its 16 authorised service centres and mobile service program, Aveta Care on Wheels. It also aims to expand the network of stockists across Malaysia for better customer service.

To encourage early purchases, the first 50 buyers of each VTM 250 variant will receive an exclusive gift set.
